Orthodontics at Kedron Dental Centre
What is Orthodontics?
Orthodontics is a dental specialty which deals primarily with the diagnosis, prevention and correction of malpositioned teeth and jaws.
Early diagnosis and treatment can lead not only to correct rotated teeth and bite, but sometimes airway and speech problems, Temporomandibular Joint Disorders (TMDs) and headaches.
It is best to start treatment as a child or in adolescents to utilise the growth spurt and thereby get the best result and long-term retention. The treatment responds well in the younger patient as the bone is less dense and the teeth move more favourably to the desired position.
Treatment time and price can vary from case to case, and it is encouraged that the first orthodontic consultation is planned at the age of 9-10.

Here at Kedron Dental Centre, our dentists, Dr Tharani De Silva and Dr Sheena Madhani both offer conventional orthodontic treatment (i.e. metal braces) and follow the principles of the Progressive Orthodontic Series taught by Don McGann (USA). Both dentists use a customized system for every tooth in each patient to get more precise tooth movement.
