Kedron Dental Centre has a long and proud history in the community. Providing dental services for more than 30 years it has always been family owned and operated. This is one of the main attractions for the team and patients who come to us as it has inherently become our objective to treat everyone as an extension of our family.
The late Dr Tom Packer was the founding dentist of the now Kedron Dental Centre and sold the practice to his associate Dr Mark Stanton in 1985. The practice, Mark Stanton Family Dental soon thrived from its’ two room surgery and needed an expansion. The “Pink Building” on 270 Gympie Road is fondly remembered by our long-term patients and when the busway was established Dr Stanton took this opportunity to move the practice to the current location on 17 Kitchener Road.
Unbeknownst to Mark the land for the new premises was bought from Mr Michael Brosnan who is a current patient of the practice. The property used to be his childhood home and both Mr Brosnan and his sister decided to sell the property through an agent to Mark Stanton for the construction of the present day Kedron Dental Centre. The current practice has better access, facilities and space and was fully operational by 2008.
When retirement became an option for Dr Stanton he made an offer of sale to Dr De Silva who has been with the practice since July 2012. Currently, the practice has two full time dentists on board, Dr De Silva and Dr McDonald.
Just like the history of Kedron Dental Centre, we like to build long-lasting relationships with our patients and their families. We pride in ourselves being referred by our existing family of patients to their loved ones. This tells us that our patients were treated with respect and compassion and they want their loved ones to start a similar dental journey experiencing that.
Our aim is to provide dentistry in a thorough and efficient manner with all the modern comforts, superior customer service and gentle patient care with the support of an extremely friendly and dedicated team. We look forward to welcoming you soon.
Dr Tharani De Silva grew up in Auckland, New Zealand for most of her childhood and attended the prestigious University of Otago in Dunedin for dentistry. In 2009 she completed her degree and worked solely in private practices in Auckland before crossing the ditch to a sunnier part of the world – beautiful Brisbane. She worked for Queensland Health and a number of private practices before landing a position as an associate dentist at Kedron Dental Centre in July 2012. She has been with the practice for nearly 7 years when she was offered the wonderful opportunity to purchase it. Married with two young children and a busy career, she was ready for another challenge and so embarked on becoming the Principle Dentist and business owner in April 2019. Since graduating, Tharani has completed many hours of professional development in Australia and abroad, to ensure that her patients are receiving the best care backed up with the most up-to date evidence-based treatment available. She has a special interest in cosmetic dentistry, orthodontics and full mouth rehabilitations in porcelain. Tharani loves adventures, whether it is travelling overseas to faraway lands, learning a new language so it can be used in her travels or taking up a cooking class to host dinner parties – everything she embarks on is done with love and commitment. Naturally this spills over into the love and precision she has for her patients and her dentistry. She takes her time to perfect her work and puts you at ease from the moment you meet her. Her gentle yet thorough approach is what wins you over and why she is a favourite dentist in Kedron.
